She also volunteers her time providing legal services to non-profit groups representing disadvantaged individuals. Ms. Lang is a strong supporter of environmental protection and is an active member of numerous environmental and civil rights organizations.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Lang enjoyed a successful career as a political consultant. For over a decade she worked for passage of environmental protection laws and for worker safety in the workplace law. She had an important role in the passage of The Organic Farming Act of 1984, organizing organic food distributors in 50 states to educate and encourage their customers to become consumer-activists. She was a Campaign Director for the Democratic Party for the California 8th Assembly District. She worked as the Campaign Director of Voter Education for San Francisco's successful non-smoking workplace ordinance (Yes on P),  the first time ever that the tobacco industry lost an election in their then over 61 attempts, although the tobacco industry spent over a million dollars and outspent the opposition by more than 10 to 1 in this election (1.4 million dollars to $125,000).  This watershed event was the turning point to encourage other cities and states to ban workplace smoking. She worked on numerous other campaigns and ballot initiatives for environmental, health, and animal protection.
